ShadeVault earns revenue through two channels:

• Affiliate commissions — When you click a product link on ShadeVault and make a purchase at the retailer's website, we may earn a small commission. We participate in affiliate programs with retailers including Amazon, Sephora, and Ulta Beauty.
• Display advertising — We show ads through Google AdSense. These ads are served by Google and are not controlled by ShadeVault.

This revenue helps us maintain the site, update our product database, and keep ShadeVault free for everyone.

Affiliate relationships have zero influence on how products are ranked, scored, or displayed on ShadeVault. Our rankings are generated algorithmically based on:

• Shade match accuracy — Delta-E color distance between the original product and the dupe.
• Formula similarity — Percentage of shared ingredients between two products.
• Community validation — User-submitted ratings and dupe confirmations.
• Price difference — How much you save compared to the original product.

No brand or retailer can pay to appear higher in our results, and no product is excluded or demoted based on affiliate availability. If a product is the best match, it shows up at the top regardless of whether we earn a commission from it.

Product links that lead to retailer websites (such as Amazon, Sephora, or Ulta) may be affiliate links. These links function identically to regular links — you will arrive at the same product page and pay the same price whether or not the link is an affiliate link.
